Hi, I'm mathilde

Holi is the Hindu Festival of Color, which is celebrated every year to mark the beginning of spring–hence the colorful, bright, layers in this drink to go along with the colors of the season.

Though I don’t follow Hinduism, I was able to learn and educate myself on the holiday while I was in college surrounded by peers who embraced the culture. I love how it’s also known as the “festival of love” and how the holiday symbolizes that good triumphs over evil. This drink is dedicated to all of my friends who celebrate Holi, and may there only be positive energy that comes with the change of Spring.

This is definitely advanced layering going on here, with the Midori and Orange Lime Mix nearly coming together, I can definitely say that the Gin layer was the easy part! I’m usually shy about adding Midori to my drinks, however, the Midori, Orange Juice, and Lime Juice really pair nicely together for this lively drink— Here’s an IGTV for my visual learners so we can make it virtually together

Here’s what you need to make your Layers Heaven

Now here’s how to make it…

Take a mixing glass and mix Orange Juice and Lime Juice. Next, take a glass filled with ice and add Midori. Now the difficult part begins– take a bar spoon and pour the Orange Lime Mix slowly over the back of the spoon so that the liquid flows gently onto the ice cubes. Now you have to do the same with your Gin and finally garnish your beautifully layered cocktail. Garnish with your favorite citrus twist.
